Mag Wheels: $300,000 Metropolitan in Car and Driver
Nash Metropolitan purists: turn away.

The rest of you MUST check out this incredibly customized 1960 Metropolitan hardtop from the folks at Kicker Audio. The car is about 30% Metropolitan and 70% loudspeaker, but it's definitely a head turner.

If you blink while reading the August 2004 edition of Car and Driver, you'll miss the photo of this car on page 136. But the company was kind enough to email me the much better shots that you see above.

According to Car and Driver, the cost to company president Steve Irby to modify this Met was a whopping $300,000! This may be the most expensive Metropolitan ever. (Has anyone spent more? Click on the "Comments" link below, and tell us.)

Kicker Audio makes glass-shattering aftermarket audio products, so if you need the Met's old Pye tube radio replaced, I'm sure they have a 6-speaker, 6-CD stereo system with a monster subwoofer waiting for you.

To learn and see more about the Kicker Metro, check out their Photo Gallery and their Press Room.

If you want to see more professional shots like the two above, check out Posies Rods and Customs.
